Specifications
Made of pine 2" x 4" studs, 3/4" pine plywood and some scraps fo
thinner plywood. Painted dark green. Approximately 5 feet high, 2
feet wide and 1 foot deep.
Story
I cannot see how I lived so long without a computer in the garage.
Checking email, playing MP3s, looking on the web for project/car repair
information. All this without having to cleanup or track dirt through
the house. I recommend everyone have one, especially for doing
greasy automotive repair work.
This was a great way to utilize space in a corner that was hard to
take adavantage of. It is above a couple stairs, so the legs are
seriously different lengths.
Miscellaneous notes/thoughts on this project:
- The machine started as an overclocked Pentium 100 MHz, then
upgraded to a 450 MHZ AMD K6. I run it as a thin client, so it has no
disk drive and boots from a Knoppix CD. I mount the MP3s I
ripped using NFS top my made file server.

- I was worried about the impact the sawdust and such would have
on the cooling of the machine and its movable parts (such as
mouse and keyboard). So far, after a number of years, there have
been no problems.
- It was raw wood finish for a couple years, until it was painted, at
which time the lower shoe holder was added.
